Welcome to KB2N Strategies

For nearly thirty years, I’ve been held accountable to results. Large organizations and small, fiercely independent and highly matrixed multi-state systems – I’ve built teams and partnered to raise more than $1B. Year after year exceeding goals, beating budget in constantly shifting environments, changes in leadership, national crises, market swings, reorganizations, mergers, divestments; you name it, I’ve likely led through it.

Now, I’m focused on taking that experience and putting it to work for leaders and organizations looking to build on strength to reach the next levels of success.

Leading community health and health equity in California and serving on the California leadership team left me understanding the operational, financial and strategic challenges of healthcare operations and how philanthropy can be leveraged as a solution. Through community partnerships and internal partners, our team launched and sustained programs that improved health outcomes for all.

1996 -2004

University of Michigan

From PhD-level work in Anthropology to the frontlines of fundraising in the first $1B campaign for a public university, this is where I first learned the power of discipline, rigor, and creativity to inspire philanthropy

2004-2006

University of California, Irvine

Creating motivating value propositions for the Humanities that inspired philanthropy was both challenging and deeply satisfying. I partnered with an outstanding dean to connect the School’s faculty, research and practice in ways that turned a seeming campus underdog into a high performing destination for local and national philanthropy.

2006-2019

Hoag Hospital Foundation

Leading at Hoag Hospital Foundation was a tremendous gift. What would happen if we combined the discipline, rigor and transparency of higher education philanthropy with unmatched intimacy and vulnerability of community medicine? The combination was incredible. An already revered community hospital, over the course of thirteen years, I partnered with incredible philanthropy, clinical, and administrative colleagues to transform Hoag into a nationally recognized independent health system. Along the way, I led the fundraising team and the Hoag Promise campaign, a $627 million comprehensive campaign that met its goal 18-months ahead of schedule. From imagining the campaign, to building it, leading it through organizational change and reaching its goal, this campaign permanently elevated Hoag to incredible levels.

2019-2026

Providence St. Joseph Health

I joined PSJH for two reasons; first, to democratize the impact of philanthropy by elevating the work in markets that didn’t have the resources to attract and retain multiple leaders with deep experience and expertise. Second, I wanted to create a truly best-in-class shared service that would enable excellence at scale rather than just cost-savings at scale. In rural, suburban, and urban communities across the PSJH footprint, we did that and more. It was an incredible lab for innovation and learnings and for maximizing local trust within a highly matrixed system. Foundations of all sizes had their best-ever years, largest gifts, dramatically improved integration of philanthropy with operations, and became a sought after for both philanthropists and philanthropy professionals.
